Gene Role Disease OMIM Descriptions Sources
MAPK10 A chromosomal aberration involving MAPK10 has been found in a single patient with pharmacoresistant epileptic encephalopathy. Translocation t(Y;4)(q11.2;q21) which causes MAPK10 truncation. [read more] 16249883
MECP2 causing ENS-MECP2 300673 The disease is caused by mutations affecting the gene represented in this entry. The MECP2 gene is mutated in Rett syndrome, a severe neurodevelopmental disorder that almost always occurs in females. Although it was first thought that MECP2 mutations causing Rett syndrome were lethal in males, later reports identified a severe neonatal encephalopathy in surviving male sibs of patients with Rett syndrome. Additional reports have confirmed a severe phenotype in males with Rett syndrome-associated MECP2 mutations. A neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by severe neonatal encephalopathy, developmental delay, mental retardation, microcephaly, seizures. Additional features include respiratory insufficiency and central hypoventilation, gastroesophageal reflux, axial hypotonia, hyperreflexia and dyskinetic movements. [read more] 11238684
MLC1 causing MLC1 604004 The disease is caused by mutations affecting the gene represented in this entry. A syndrome of cerebral leukoencephalopathy and megalencephaly characterized by ataxia, spasticity, seizures, delay in motor development and mild mental retardation. The brain appears swollen on magnetic resonance imaging, with diffuse white-matter abnormalities and the invariable presence of subcortical cysts in frontal and temporal lobes. [read more] 22328087

MPC1 causing MPYCD 614741 The disease is caused by mutations affecting the gene represented in this entry. An autosomal recessive metabolic disorder characterized by severely delayed psychomotor development, mild dysmorphic features, hepatomegaly, marked metabolic acidosis, hyperlactacidemia with normal lactate/pyruvate, and encephalopathy. Some patients have epilepsy and peripheral neuropathy. [read more] 22628558
MPV17 causing MTDPS6 256810 The disease is caused by mutations affecting the gene represented in this entry. A disease due to mitochondrial dysfunction. It is characterized by infantile onset of progressive liver failure, often leading to death in the first year of life, peripheral neuropathy, corneal scarring, acral ulceration and osteomyelitis leading to autoamputation, cerebral leukoencephalopathy, failure to thrive, and recurrent metabolic acidosis with intercurrent infections.
